The mega yacht Princess Mariana was docked in San Diego over the weekend. It's the first mega yacht spotting since the port opened a high-profile stretch of the Embarcadero on San Diego Bay. This modern and stylish yacht is full of modern innovative features, has an impressive six decks, and can accommodate 12 permanent guests on board.

One of the most impressive features on board Princess Mariana is the Beach Club(see photo). This is a dry dock for the custom built tender which can be -looded? when the tender is outside and forms a 12 metre swimming pool with underwater lighting and steps. In addition to this, the entire length of the starboard hull wall lowers to just above sea level, creating a large teak private sun terrace for the owner?s suite.

There is also a helipad on board -and when the helicopter has left, it becomes a golf driving range with a massive screen showing a host of well-known courses.

The decks on board Princess Mariana are extremely spacious and there are plenty of dining opportunities to choose from. One level up from the bridge deck is the party deck with two bars, casual seating areas, a raised dance floor, a grand piano, three cinema screens, a barbeque, sun beds and a spa pool! There is a cinema on the main deck with seating for 13 guests.

According to Charterworld this luxury yacht can be charted for a mere $650,000 a week give or take a few dollars.

Take note there is no television in the rooms, but then who needs TV when you are on holiday!

The real best touch which makes all the difference in a small luxury hotel, is that it is a family run hotel. Family interest shows in all the little touches, not the least of which is the service, which starts with a very warm welcome on arrival at reception, where it is likely one of the management team will show you to your room personally. In fact a short time after a manager shows you to your room, complimentary rum punches will arrive, adding to the feeling of being made thoroughly welcome.

It is quite common to hear that the service at The Sandpiper is the best in the Caribbean to give you an idea of how good it is. The staff seem very quickly to know your likes, and dislikes, your seating preferences, and then they almost and invariably accurately anticipate your needs. This is something of course that a small luxury hotel should be good at, but very few are, and certainly this feature is definitely the best in Barbados.

One of the features that makes The Sandpiper a top Barbados Luxury Hotel is the fact that room service comes free, so you can eat breakfast on your balcony, or dinner for that matter and it doesn't cost anything. You also get a couple of hours of free tennis coaching with your booking which is a nice touch.

The food by and large is good, with a wide choice at breakfast, and everything cooked, is freshly done, and Harrolds Bar for lunch has everything from tasty snacks to more substantial meals. Dinner in the evening is excellent, and if for a change you want to eat out, there are plenty of good local touristy restaurants nearby. You might care to check out Ragamuffins which does a good curry, Mews stays open late, Daphne's, and Spagos.

Small criticisms are the fact that the beach is on the small side, so sunbeds get booked early, and the other which is a bit pathetic is that the average age of the guests is on the high side of forty, and The Sandpiper has the slight air of an exclusive club. This isn't anyone's fault it is more a measure of just how good this particular small Barbados Luxury Oceanfront Hotel is, because the guests keep returning year after year, and they all seem to know each other!

There is the very best haute cuisine at the Boudreau, or if your tastes are less haute and more ordinary then casual eating at the Hurricane Hole bar will keep you happy. If you choose to leave Discovery at Marigot Bay in the evening then the hotel boat called the Gingerbread will take you to any of them free of charge, then a phone call summonses them back to take you home. You should try Rainforest Hideaway which has a set price menu, and Chateaux Mygo has 2 for 1 cocktails at a happy hour every night, decent food, and sometimes a band.

Discovery at Marigot Bay has no beach of its own, but a speedboat will take you to the Jalousie beach, which takes about 15 minutes, but is restricted to eight passengers, so book early to avoid disappointment.

If there is a complaint it is the lack of a beach, in fact the lack of anything much in the way of night life in the immediate area. Mind you most people come for lazing by the pool, water sports, and going to the beach, followed by early bed!!

HOTEL CORTIJO SOTO REAL
Hotel Cortijo Soto Real, set in 1,000 acres, is located between Jerez and Seville several miles from the A4 in the middle of the Andalucian countryside.

Hotel Cortijo Soto Real was originally the opulent private residence of an Algerian prince and was converted into a luxury hotel in recent years. The hotel has 24 bedrooms/suites.

We arrived at this exclusive hotel in the evening to be greeted outside reception by two members of staff who quickly removed our luggage from the car which was then parked for us. We were upgraded to a junior suite (having been shown around 4 junior suites and asked to choose which ever one we wanted).The junior suite, beautifully furnished, had a seperate living area overlooking the orange grove. The huge bedroom had french doors opening onto a terrace with sun beds and table and chairs overlooking the acres of grounds and the outdoor swimming pool. The bathroom was the largest we have ever seen with a double ended whirlpool bath and huge shower with jets aimed at various angles. The lady asked my wife if she wanted a bath run for her whilst we enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine in the exotic Morocon styled drawing room but upon returning to our suite not only had a bath been run but it was surrounded by candles-what a greeting!

Dinner was taken in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious. Breakfast was eaten outside in a courtyard to the sound of bird song.

This luxury hotel has an indoor swimming pool, small gym and hairdressers. The outdoor swimming pool is magnificent with the hotel staff providing outstanding service throughout the day direct to you at the poolside-you can have lunch by the poolside.

On the hotel's estate you can hire quad or mountain bikes, ride on horseback or even a horse drawn carriage or shoot.

This is an exclusive luxury hotel set in the real Spain located well away from the busy tourist resorts. Nothing is too much trouble-the attention to detail is excellent. The hotel staff are professional and most personable. This luxury hotel in Spain provides a superb base to spend the day lazing around the pool or walking in the immaculate grounds and then to drive late afternoon to Seville or Jerez or tour around the famous White Villages in the locality. You will never forget the experience of being pampered at this luxury hotel -infact you will not want to leave!

HOTEL VILLA JEREZ
Hotel Villa Jerez is a luxury hotel in Spain located in an exclusive residential area of Jerez only a 10 minute walk from the home of the famous white Andalucian horses where a display can be witnessed.

We arrived at the Hotel Villa Jerez, whch is a classic residence set in an acre of beautiful grounds, late in the evening to a wonderful greeting outside the hotel entrance door with our luggage being removed from the car and the car parked for us. We had asked for a light salad to be prepared for our late arrival but they had prepared a beautiful 3 course dinner including a salad served in the hotel restaurant by a most friendly waiter. We had a junior suite with a seperate living area, a huge bedroom and a luxurious bathroom with double ended bath and a seperate walk in shower with water jets. Our suite overlooked the gardens and had a balcony with sun beds and a table and hair here we enjoyed tea before going down to breakfast which we had outside.

This luxury hotel has 16 bedrooms so you are assured of a personal service-you will be called by your name! The outdoor swimming pool is outstanding and beautifully situated. There is a small gym and sauna and steam room.

Jerez is beautiful to walk around with many designer shops and of course world famous as it is the sherry capital of the world-a visit around a bodegas is a must.

The most memorable evening was to have dinner in the gypsy quarter of Jerez at a restaurant where a performance of Flamenco dancing was performed-it was so intimate with only about 50 guests-mainly locals. You could not help but become encaptured with the electric atmosphere!

This luxury hotel in Spain has the most wonderful location for easy access to the city centre in about 5 minutes by car. The staff at this hotel are a credit with nothing being too much trouble. We would not wish to stay anywhere else in Jerez when visiting this beautiful old city in the future. Although this luxury hotel is located close to the centre it is peaceful and tranquil relaxing outside in the gardens by the pool. You can also travel to the quiet remote beaches of the Costa De La Luz in about 40 minutes.

A Luxury Beach Front Property On Benguerra Island Mozambique For Your Romantic Beach Getaway

Mozambique holidays may not be the first thing you think of when you are looking for a beach front property, but you could do a whole lot worse than to check out the Mozambique channel, and Benguerra Island home to the luxury lodge called Benguerra Lodge. This is a beach front property with style, more a boutique hotel really, but in the wilderness of an offshore island on the edge of the Indian Ocean.

Benguerra Lodge is small, very intimate with four different kinds of accommodation from the Bungalows, through the Cabanas, to the Casitas to the Villa.

There are two Bungalows in the trees, less than 15 metres from the beach with a seaview. They have no windows or doors to maximise the sea breezes. They have blinds which can be drawn, overhead fans, mosquito nets, and en suite bathrooms with a shower.

The Cabanas are right on the beach, with King sized bed, bathroom with bath, and private deck with Jacuzzi/plunge pool, hammocks and sun lounger, mini bar, and tea and coffee facilities. The Cabanas are especially romantic and elegant.

The decadently private Casitas are a real home away from home with a King sized bed and mosquito net, a beautifully furnished lounge area, with a large timber deck and plunge pool, plus an outdoor dining gazebo. This is a real romantic beach hideaway.

Finally the exclusive, luxurious, and very personal Villa, which is the very top of the range accommodation. Here there are two double bedrooms with mosquito nets and fans. Ensuite bathrooms with bath and shower, and lounge and dining area. You will have your own personal chef, private wooden deck with swimming pool, private garden, and beach access.

There is a main lodge at Benguerra which consists of large reception area and gift shop, and expansive lounge, bar, and dining room, with large verandas and indoor and outdoor areas to sit around in.

Added to this is a swimming pool and a small spa, but with the stunning beach and turquoise sea, who needs a swimming pool!!

Meals in the main consist not unnaturally of fresh seafood, so prawns, crab, and crayfish will be enjoyed regularly. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style, with dinner being a set menu. There will because of Mozambique's colonial history be more than a little Portugese influence in the flavours, which are also a cross between African and Arabic.
Lunch and dinner are moveable feasts with new spots to eat every day.

There are a number of very good and obvious reasons for choosing Benguerra Lodge for your Mozambique holidays.

The first of these would be the situation, being on a large long sheltered beach, and even at low tide access to deep water is possible, and this isn't the case in East Africa.

Over the years this type of accommodation has increased vastly in popularity with travelers looking for something special and exclusive.

The difference between large hotel chains and boutique hotels is that they don't provide 100's of rooms but instead secluded luxury in small and intimate resorts.

A "home away from home" is a bit a stressed expression, but it describes quite accurately what you may find. A really private space in a total different location, thousands of miles away from home. You already could find that easily in many Bali hotels that are always different than big city hotels and even more so in boutique hotels.

All amenities are usually provided in these resorts to make you feel comfortable. Individual service with a personal touch makes all the difference, and a villa with an selection of things you don't want to miss like a sound system and satellite TV, several cozy in- and outdoor areas for relaxation, and refreshingly different styled bathrooms surely add to the ingredients to make you enjoy your stay.

The leading resorts in this field try to accomplish a secluded setting of each villa, permitting undisturbed outdoor life with outdoor dining areas. So life within nature can be experienced in Bali style. Some of the villas have outdoor bathrooms and private plunge pools as well.

Many known Bali hotels and resorts are renovating and redesigning themselves to follow this trend. Alam Kul Kul in Legian added boutique elements, The Villas in Seminyak are a good example to fully mature this concept, all villas have a private swimming pool and offer the privacy requested by clients.

In Jimbaran the Jimbaran Puri bali is a good beach side concept and must be booked early. The negative side of Boutique resorts is really the limited availability of rooms. It seems that because of the initially understated expectancy a few years back when the success of small high end resorts wasn't guaranteed, some of them are maybe build a bit too small.

Now the situation is very much different, travelers looking for that special place to spend a vacation, and are willing to pay for the extra luxury. The Ubud area is leading the way with resorts such as Kamandalu Resort, The Alila or the Natura Resort, one of the better and most convincing additions.

In the meanwhile we saw the opening of many new intimate small Bali hotels over the last few years, it seems a trend unbroken despite the slow down and recent recovery in the Bali tourism industry. Bali is once again the tropical dream location on a small island that currently attracts more individual travelers than mass group tours. Personally I am happy with this development and hope it will stay like this, as it supports space and tranquility for a personal experience in a location that 'is made' to be experienced this way.
